Welcome to the Wings Partner Page
What is a Wings Partner?
A Wings Partner has agreed to help Cocoon House in their mission to break the cycle of homelessness in our community. This mission supports the belief that every young person deserves a home and the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential. By supporting this mission, you too, can ensure that youth who are seeking safety off the street can do so.
How Can You Help?
If a young person walks into your facility and needs services, we hope you can help us connect them to one of the many services we provide!
Ages 12-17
-
Please have the youth call East to answer a short list of screening questions. These questions are about their current circumstances, as well as their guardianship. It may be helpful for you to stay with the youth and support them through this process. Part of this process typically requires that the youth has a parent or guardian consent to the shelter stay. East will be able to handle this communication if the youth provides them with contact information. If this makes a youth uncomfortable, East staff can work with them if they explain their circumstances .
-
Ask the youth if they have any friends, family, or support persons who can transport them to East
Help them to navigate public transportation.
Community Transits Trip Planner may be helpful: www.communitytransit.org/plan-my-trip
Youth 18 and under can ride on Public Transit for Free
If the youth doesn't have a phone, it can be helpful to print the bus route out for them and/or instruct them to tell the bus driver which stop they need to be dropped off at. If their phone battery is low or dead, please allow them time to charge it before leaving your location so they can safely request help or access online resources if necessary
